Before Matt ever drew a floor plan, he was designing sets and lighting for the stage at the Baltimore High School for the Performing Arts. That early instinct to shape how a space looks, feels, and functions never really left him. It just evolved. After studying sculpture at Franklin & Marshall College and spending years as a creative director at advertising firms in New York City working on brands like CBS, UNICEF, and Jose Cuervo, Matt eventually found his way to what had always been pulling at him. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from UMA and became a licensed architect. At KBA, Matt brings that layered creative background to every project. The technical rigor of architecture, the craft of high-end residential work, the long collaboration with clients and builders, he finds it all genuinely engaging. There's something he finds meaningful about being invited into a decision as personal as someone's home, and working through all the complexity that comes with turning that vision into something real and lasting.Matt moved to Maine in 2006 with his wife and three daughters and hasn't looked back. Outside of work, you'll find him sailing on Casco Bay, skiing the backcountry, cycling on and off the road, and hiking.UMAMatt is a licensed architect and holds NCARB certification.
