Drew Bortles

From a young age, Drew was fascinated by how spaces could make people feel, and how light, scale, and material could shape experience. Drew spent much of his childhood building forts in the woods, using imagination and resourcefulness to bring ideas to life. That playful exploration of space grew into a passion for design and problem-solving, and Drew still feels that same creative energy in his work today. “Architecture gives me the chance to honor the craft of building while creating environments that are both thoughtful and deeply personal.”

Drew loves the creative challenge of designing spaces that feel personal, purposeful, and lasting. Collaborating with clients to shape ideas into something real and meaningful is incredibly rewarding. “It's fulfilling to know that the places we create become part of someone's daily life and their memories—and I enjoy the problem-solving that comes with turning that vision into something tangible.”

When not working, Drew is usually outside with his wife and son—hiking, camping, swimming in one of Maine's many lakes, or spending time in their garden. Drew and his wife grow vegetables from seed and love cooking with what they harvest, especially making fresh salsa and homemade hot sauce. In the winter, they trade the lakes for the mountains and spend their weekends snowboarding together. “Maine lives up to its ‘Vacationland’ name, and we feel lucky to explore it every day.”
